A HOST of choirs will raise their voices in a tuneful charity event to raise funds in support of Worcestershire hospices.

Visitors are being encouraged to come along and enjoy the festive sounds and sights of Christmas at the free event at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold, near Bromsgrove, on Thursday, December 3.

The choir-a-thon takes place between 3pm and 7.15pm. Children’s and adult choirs will sing for 30 minutes in the award-winning garden centre during the Webbs’ Festive Food Fayre.

Webbs has pledged £1,000 to be split between the firm’s five chosen hospice charities in exchange for choirs to sing for customers.

The first choir to raise their voices will be from The Elms School in Malvern, followed by pupils from the Downs School, Colwall; the St Richard’s Singers who are volunteers and staff from the Worcester hospice; the Artrix Choir, Bromsgrove, and rounding off the event will be the Little Witley Community choir.

It is hoped generous customers will also make donations to the hospices – St Richard’s, Primrose, Acorns, Kemp and Mary Stevens – to boost the £1,000 donation from Webbs.

Webbs chairman Ed Webb said: “We are delighted that so many choirs wished to share their wonderful voices with our customers.

"We support our chosen hospice charities throughout the year but look forward to giving them this extra donation at Christmas when they work so hard to make it a special time for patients and their families.”
