BROMSGROVE District Council are offering support to residents who want to clean-up their local area for the Queen’s 90th birthday as part of the national Clean for the Queen campaign.

The district council will be loaning out litter pickers, providing special Clean for the Queen refuse sacks, collecting litter and offering advice to residents planning community litter picks.

Councillor Peter Whittaker, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “Support is available for anyone in the district that wants to get involved with a litter pick, particularly around the Queen’s 90th birthday.

“This national initiative’s a good chance to show some local community spirit and keep on educating people to stop dropping litter in the first place which costs Bromsgrove almost £900,000 a year to clean up.”

The campaign is being run in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy and will offer advice and resources to residents between now and the first weekend in March.
