CUSTOMERS at Webbs Garden Centre are being encouraged to have a spring clean and bring any unwanted items along to the store’s Donate, Don’t Dump Day.

The centre in Wychbold holds the day every year to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice, and this year people are being asked to bring along their clean, good quality items between 10am and 5pm on Thursday, May 12.

People can drop their items off in a collection area in the Webbs car park, and all donations will then be delivered to Acorns for them to sort and sell in their charity shops.

Mandie Fitzgerald, community fundraising manager at Acorns, said: “We are very grateful to Webbs Garden Centre for their support over the years and are delighted they are holding ‘Donate, Don’t Dump Day’ once again. It costs over £9 million per year to provide our services and we rely on funding from the local community and from our network of shops to raise the majority of this amount.”

Chairman Ed Webb added: “The aim of 'Donate, Don't Dump Day' is to improve the quality and quantity of donations to charity shops and for giving in this way to be an easy and frequent event. This helps charities such as Acorns to raise the much needed funds to carry out their invaluable work in the community.”
