A CYCLIST is still in a critical condition in hospital after he sustained multiple serious injuries when he crashed with a car on Longbridge Lane.
Emergency services received seven 999 calls on Sunday, May 15 reporting the crash near Sainsburys in Longbridge, where one witness said a cyclist was "thrown into the air".
At 2.20pm a West Midlands ambulance, police and a Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford rushed to the scene while a major trauma team stood on standby at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The 33-year-old man was reported to have reduced levels of consciousness as well as multiple serious injuries and was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
West Mercia Police are now investigating claims that the pedal bike involved in the crash had been stolen shortly before the collision.
Officers are keen to speak to any witnesses who have not yet contacted police.
