TWO children were assaulted in an alleyway in Catshill on Monday, by men wearing bandanas over their faces.

The two young girls, aged 10 and 11-years-old, were walking with two other girls down the alleyway near to Green Lane in Upper Catshill when they were assaulted by two men.

The incident happened at around 5.15pm on Monday, June 21.

The children ran away from the masked men and told their parents what had happened, who then contacted the police.

Both men were described as being in their early 20s. The first is thought to be mixed race, around 5 ft 6 with dark hair. He was wearing a cap and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

The second man is described as white, roughly 5 ft 8, with blond hair and green eyes. He was wearing white Adidas tracksuit bottoms which were stained on one leg.

Police believe the men approached the girls from Barley Mow Lane and then made off towards Milton Road.

Detective Sergeant Peter Wheeler of West Merica Police said: "Understandably, these young girls are very distressed and we have specially trained officers supporting them.

"The local community will be very concerned about this incident and it is important that we let people know, so they can be vigilant and help us find these men.

"I would like to reassure them that a full and thorough investigation is underway and police continue to be in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.

"I would urge anyone who saw two men fitting these descriptions to contact us as soon as possible. The attack happened in the late afternoon and there may have been people walking in the area who may have seen the men at the time of the assaults."
