THERE’S a second chance for adults, children and families to try tennis for free this summer on Saturday, July 16, when Bromsgrove Tennis Club opens its doors to the public as part of the Great British Tennis Weekends.

The club held one open day in May where people were invited in to try the sport for free, and this session will be running from 12-3pm, with free racquets and balls provided.

Anyone is welcome to come along, whatever their age or playing ability, and there will be coaches on hand from the club to offer up tips on technique for anyone who needs them.

The club is running mini tennis sessions for children aged from three to 10, using smaller courts and racquets, and soft balls, while the full-size courts will be available for junior players aged from 11-18 and to families to hit a few balls around and have some fun.

Adults are also being invited to try a free taster coaching session, run by the club’s own qualified staff or they can just take part in the free play sessions on their own.

James Griffiths, head coach at Bromsgrove Tennis Club, said: “There’s been lots of negative publicity recently about falling fitness levels and people not getting enough exercise but we really want to give people the chance to see the positives of playing tennis to keep fit and have fun. It’s a sport you can enjoy whatever your level and we’re delighted to part of this great national initiative.”

People can book places at the tennis club open day online at clubspark.lta.org.uk/OpenDays/BromsgroveTennisClub/ or for more information or advice on which session is the right one to opt for, contact James Griffiths on 07973 666793 or write to JGTennisLtd@gmail.com to have a chat.
