PUPILS at St Peter's Catholic First School are ready and set for the Rio Olympics after a special visit from top Great British runner Daniel Caines.

On Monday, June 27 the retired 400m runner popped in to the academy in Rock Hill, Bromsgrove to inspire the schoolchildren to follow their dreams.

Now a Youth Sport Trust athlete mentor, Caines gave an assembly, telling students about his achievements, including being awarded World Commonwealth, European and Europa Cup champion.

He then spoke to the children about keeping positive, smiling and persevering with their goals.

Pupils joined Caines in a variety of sporting activities to get the school in the Rio spirit, before posing for photographs.

PE Coordinator at St Peter's First School Sarah Tilsley said: "The children had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed their fitness session with him.”
