A PUBLIC meeting giving people the chance to question Redditch MP Karen Lumley about the ongoing Alexandra Hospital saga has been organised for next month.

The long sought-after meeting, to be chaired by Mrs Lumley and leader of Redditch Council Bill Hartnett, will focus primarily on the changes to paediatrics.

The Advertiser exclusively revealed yesterday that due to a lack of specialist doctors the Alex Hospital will not be able to continue to provide inpatient children's beds on both the Alex and Worcestershire Royal Hospital sites from Wednesday, September 7.

From this date inpatient children's beds will be located on one site - Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The children's ward at the Alex will be closed for admissions and the children's doctors and nurses will move to Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester.

The meeting will also see senior management and consultants present from the trust as well as the chair and chief executive from the Redditch and Bromsgrove Clinical Commissioning Group.

The aim is that people can not only listen to what has happened so far, but also have the opportunity to question the people making the decisions.

The public meeting is on Wednesday, September 28 starting at 7pm at Redditch Town Hall.
