AVONCROFT Museum is ending the school holidays on a high note, by hosting a family fun day complete with live re-enactments and rural crafts.

This Bank Holiday Monday, costumed actors will be performing in the museum's historic buildings, and visitors can try their hand at willow weaving, archery or the strike hammer.

The blacksmith will be had at work in the forge, and guests can watch as he bends metal to create iron masterpieces.

The specially-trained windmill volunteers will show visitors around the 19th century postmill, where they can see the machines grind grain into flour.

Monty the Jester will be teaching guests circus skills, and children can enjoy a range of craft activities, a bouncy castle or the vintage swing boats.

Traditional fairground games will also be available, as well as face-painting, alpacas, a falconry display and music from the Chuch and Harriett jazz band.

The popular miniature train will be running and there will be a barbecue and tea room offering refreshments.
