FANCY a roaring good time at a new theme park in Bromsgrove?

You may have second thoughts after the launch of a petition urging council bosses to create a dinosaur attraction based on the hit film franchise Jurassic Park.

Genetically engineered dinosaurs caused chaos in the 1993 blockbuster as park creator Doctor John Hammond saw his attempts to create a theme park end in disaster.

Now a plucky petitioner, who also goes by the name of ‘John Hammond’, has launched a petition urging Bromsgrove District Council to re-create the attraction in the town.

He said: "1993 saw the release of the best film ever and it got me thinking.

"No one has done it for real yet.

"So with Bromsgrove being in pretty much the heart of the country, with great motorway links and a booming population, why not build a real life Jurassic Park here?

"Of course, we'd have to be pretty careful with security, we've all seen on at least four occasions what can go wrong when you mix dinosaurs and the paying public.

"But so long as we're careful what could possibly go wrong.

"Imagine... Tyrannosaurs, Velociraptors, Stego's and Triceratops all running amok around Charford. I'm not so sure about Dilophosaurus though, they spit.

"It doesn't get much better than that. So vote with your feet (keyboard) and let’s get Bromsgrove Council to make the small investment to make it happen."

Just under 50 people have signed the petition, although signature numbers might not be the only stumbling block in the tongue-in-cheek plan.

A council spokesperson added: "We receive lots of petitions, all of which we consider.

"The summer Street Theatre could certainly take on a new twist at the T-Rexreation Ground.

"That said, we hope the petitioners are not so preoccupied with whether or not we ‘could’, that they haven’t stopped to think if we ‘should’."
