GUIDES from Bromsgrove gathered at the Dolphin Centre for their first swimming gala.
50 girls, aged between 10 and 14, from six Guide units across the region, competed in several unusual water races.
Events included a Siamese race, which saw girls swimming while holding hands, and a tadpole race, where competitors tried to complete a length of the pool while balancing an egg on a spoon.
There was also a t-shirt relay and a few more standard swimming strokes.
Despite just 13 points separating the top and bottom teams, Alvechurch Guides were announced the overall winners.
Guide leader Charlotte Harris said:"The girls all made their units very proud and, from all the noise they made, they must have been enjoying themselves. I can't wait to run it again next year, hopefully bigger and better."
