PATIENTS at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bromsgrove were treated to free cakes and hot drinks to mark the Jewish-led day of social action, Mitzvah Day.
On Sunday, November 27, members of the Birmingham Jewish Community Melanie Mann and Yvonne Stollard organised a team from the nearby Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities to demonstrate how people of different faiths can work together to do good.
Yvonne, who is a former resident of Bromsgrove, said: "Not only was this a good way to serve the community, it was also a great opportunity to demonstrate that people of different faiths can, and do, work together in friendship."
The event was organised after Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid made a request for a Mitzvah Day project to be held in his constituency.
Although Mr Javid was unable to attend, vice-chair of Bromsgrove District Council Malcolm Glass and chair of Worcestershire Interfaith Forum Reverend Owain Bell attended the cake sale and complimented the project.
Speaking after the event, Mr Javid said: "It's inspiring to see different communities within Bromsgrove coming together and uniting for a great cause. Thank you to all of the volunteers for giving up their time to for this project."
