PUPILS at Bromsgrove Prep School worked against the clock to prevent a cyberattack as part of a Cyber Security Festival last month.

A group of year seven students joined pupils from six other schools in the area for a day-long event investigating cyber security.

Pupils from each school competed to decipher hidden messages, analyse evidence and decrypt files to identify the perpetrator behind the simulated attack.

Children used a variety of skills learned throughout the day, including sound editing to change the pitch and reverse a recording.

A spokesman for Bromsgrove Prep school said: "The teamwork and buzz of excitement in the room was clearly visible.

"Congratulations to The Chantry School who were the winners in the morning sessions and Bromsgrove School who won the afternoon session, managing to crack the code, thus saving the world from a cyberattack."

The festival was organised by the Tablet Academy and sponsored by The Cyber Security Challenge.
