PUPILS at Bromsgrove Senior School will be putting their own twist on the international smash hit musical Hairspray at the Artrix theatre this month.

More than 40 16 to 18-year-olds will be taking part in the performance, including students from America, Shanghai, Nigeria and of course, Bromsgrove.

Set in 1962 at the height of racial segregation in Baltimore, the musical sees Tracy Turnblad defy prejudice and endeavour to dance her way onto national television.

Bromsgrove School's take on the production will feature hit songs Welcome to the 60s, You Can't Stop the Beat, The Nicest Kids in Town and more.

A spokesman for the school said: "Don’t miss this terrific feel-good show that will have you wanting to just dance, dance, dance in the aisles."

Hairspray will show at Bromsgrove's Artrix from Tuesday, January 24 to Thursday, January 26 at 7pm.

Tickets cost £7.50 or £5 for concessions. For more information visit artrix.co.uk/whats-on.
