THE opening of Bromsgrove’s new multi-million pound Waitrose store is edging ever closer as bosses confirm recruitment is now underway.

The new £3.5 million supermarket, which is being built on the old Market Hall site on Hanover Street, has positions for 50 new jobs ahead of its opening in late Spring.

Roles for customer service, hospitality and supermarket assistant positions are advertised at jlpjobs.com from February 17 and interviews are expected to take place in the coming weeks.

Bosses say they are “excited” to bring the store to the town and are looking forward to building a team of high-quality staff from the area.

Waitrose resourcing consultant Sarah Duncan said: “We are excited to be coming to Bromsgrove and have been delighted by the interest already shown in joining our business.

“We look forward to bringing together a team that will build on our reputation for quality service and help us play our part in bring shoppers to the town.”

Waitrose will also be working with Jobcentre Plus as part of the process to provide interview opportunities for unemployed people.

All successful applicants will become Partners in the John Lewis Partnership.

Benefits include learning and leisure subsidies, shopping discounts and a share in the company’s annual profits in the form of an annual bonus.

The 6,000sq ft convenience store will feature thousands of products with a focus on fresh foods as well as a hospitality area for people to enjoy their food and drink.

John Lewis ‘click and collect’, dry cleaning, Waitrose QuickCheck and its food ordering service, along with Waitrose Entertaining will also be available at the site.
