NEW outreach projects to help residents recovering from mental health illnesses are now available in Bromsgrove.

New Opportunities Worcestershire, part of Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, run a variety of outreach projects across the county for people living with a mental health condition.

They aim to help people improve their skills, gain confidence and increase concentration, enabling them to move into mainstream activities.

The projects are currently run in Redditch, Worcester and Bromsgrove and include art, horticulture, woodwork, DIY, photography and office skills.

Cookery and IT courses have recently started in Bromsgrove at Amphlett Hall.

The IT course will help people to learn or re-learn how to use the Microsoft Office package which includes Word and Excel, whilst the cookery course focuses on healthy cooking on a budget.

Stephanie Danby, Outreach Coordinator, said “We are really pleased to be able to offer these courses in Bromsgrove. We already run Horticulture from New Haven in Bromsgrove so it’s great that we have been able to expand the courses that we put on in the town. Amphlett Hall is in a great, central location and we hope that this will make it easy for people to attend the courses.”

The courses are attended by people recovering from long term mental health issues who have been supported by the secondary mental health teams.
