ANGRY NHS campaigners from Bromsgrove have helped to fill four coaches to take to a national demonstration on Saturday, fighting against cuts to services.

Bromsgrove Against Cuts (BAC) took to the High Street over the weekend for one final time ahead of the national Health Campaigns Together demonstration in London on March 4.

Working under the county-wide banner of ‘It’s Our NHS Worcestershire’, they have now filled all coaches to the rally, including a Bromsgrove to Redditch coach.

The rallying call has been issued following shocking patient deaths at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and a damning CQC report into Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

Nationally, organisers estimate around 100,000 people from across the country will attend.

BAC’s Kevin Greenway said: “The experience of talking to people in Bromsgrove has been brilliant and so has linking up with concerned people from across Worcestershire.

“Bromsgrove and Redditch have come together with hundreds of others from Worcestershire and tens of thousands from across the UK to give a voice of protest.”

Bromsgrove supporters have filled coaches through leafleting and petitioning alongside campaigners from across the county - including ex-members of Save the Alex.

Neal Stote, ex chair of Save the Alex, added: “I have not witnessed this level of response in Bromsgrove over the years and it is fantastic to see.”

The demonstration will take place from noon, marching from Tavistock Place to Parliament Square. Anybody not on coaches interested in joining are advised to seek train transport.

The group will hold future meetings to discuss the recent sustainability and transformation plans (STP) for a 43 per cent cuts in beds at all of Worcestershire's community hospitals.
