TWO landmark buildings in the Bromsgrove area will be sold at auction next month, with buyers already showing 'huge interest'.

The former Bournheath Methodist Church and Longbridge Police Station will be among 157 properties up for sale at SDL Auctions Bigwood's largest ever auction in Birmingham on Thursday, July 6.

Head of commercial auctions at SDL Ian Tudor said: “These could be considered suitable for a wide variety of alternative uses, including residential and possible redevelopment, subject to obtaining the appropriate planning permissions.”

Planning consent is already in place on the Fairfield Road church building, allowing conversion into two residential dwellings.

The site was built in 1837 as the Primitive Methodist Chapel and was later remodelled in the 1850s, before being ravaged be a fire in 1996.

It has been vacant for nearly two years, after Bromsgrove and Redditch Methodist Circuit held its final service there on September 6, 2015.

The lot is expected to sell for up to £100,000 at auction.

The former station for Longbridge Police will also go under the hammer, just two months after it closed down.

Northfield and Longbridge officers now operate from Bournville Lane Police Station, while Weoley Neighbourhood Team work out of Quinton.

The Bristol Road South property has a guide price of £165,000.

Both lots will be up for bids at Aston Village FC at 10.30am. Interested buyers are advised to get there early.
