A BROMSGROVE couple who lost their baby daughter have launched a music festival to raise funds towards a maternity unit for families going through the same devastating loss.

Samantha Pedley and Daniel Roberts’ daughter Poppy Elizabeth Roberts was born sleeping at 18 weeks on May 27 this year.

The couple stayed in the specialist Faye Turner bereavement suite at Worcestershire Royal Hospital after Poppy was born.

Now Samantha, Daniel, their families and friends are organising a festival in Poppy’s memory to raise money towards the £60,000 cost of a second suite.

Samantha, 21, said: “We were shown so much care and given all the time that we needed at the Faye Turner Suite.

"We were able to spend several days with Poppy and our families and friends were able to visit, which made things a lot easier for us.

“We want to make sure there is another suite for other families to use should they ever go through the same thing.”

The event, titled PERfest - which gets its name from Poppy’s initials - takes place at The Park Gate Inn, Kidderminster Road, Dodford, on Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19.

The festival will have live music, real ales, cocktails, face painting, bouncy castles, a rodeo bull, a fundraising car wash and more.

There will also be a charity auction and raffle with prizes including tickets and signed merchandise from the band Kodaline.

Daniel, 25, whose band Grafton Ash will be performing over the weekend, added: “We want the festival to be a celebration in Poppy’s memory.

“We hope lots of people will join us for some great music to raise money for a really good cause.”

Samantha's sister Sophie has already raised £1,000 towards the fund with a 24-hour sponsored silence.

Tickets for the festival are £5 for both days, available from The Park Gate Inn, Kidderminster Road and online at perfest.co.uk. For information, email enquiries@perfest.co.uk.
