DELIGHTED organisers from Timberhonger 10k have handed over a slice of £6,000 to four important charities, following a record number of entries this year.
The ever-popular event, part of Bromsgrove Carnival weekend in July, had 650 entries this year, its biggest ever, plus 200 young runners in the accompanying Children’s Challenge.
All of the money raised has been split between Bromsgrove’s Primrose Hospice, the Basement Project, Midland Air Ambulance and Libby Mae’s Little Angels.
Race director Mark Graham met up with the charities in Sanders Park where the event was held and was delighted to present each with a cheque for £1,500.
He said: “It was a wonderful evening and great to see the community coming together for the event whilst supporting such good causes.”
Jackie Hooper from homeless charity the Basement Project, Emma Williams from the Primrose Hospice, Charlotte and Rich Sharratt from Libby Mae’s, and James Bunting from Midlands Air Ambulance met with Mr Graham to collect their cheques.
Michelle McCracken, Worcestershire fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We are very grateful to the Bromsgrove Timberhonger 10k for choosing to raise money for our charity.
“With each air ambulance mission costing on average £2,500, funds raised from the event will help to fund a future lifesaving mission.”
The amount raised is boosted by local companies donating their services for free.
Morrisons staff were on hand to give out water at the finish, property company BAM provided the traffic barriers, and Cotswold Outdoor from Wychbold donated the winners prizes.
