AN annual bike ride raised a staggering £7,828 for Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm as more than 150 people cycled from Bournheath to Belbroughton and back.

Riders dusted off their BMX’s, Choppers and standard push-bikes on July 1 to join ‘The Retro Run’ route from the Nailers Arms pub in Bournheath, stopping at other pubs en route.

Organisers Wesley Gardner and brothers, Sid and Nick Griffin, have hosted the event for seven years as a way to ride village-to-village while raising money for a good cause.

This year the trio chose Dodford Children’s Farm after a visit to the centre, handing over a huge cheque on Friday, August 4, to provide the charity with a welcomed cash boost.

Kelly Broadfield, manager at Dodford Children’s Farm, said: “We are over the moon with the amount raised by The Retro Run and would like to thank the organisers for choosing to support us and everyone who took part, donated raffle prizes or bought tickets.

“We can now start some long-awaited projects to improve our facilities and offer more disabled and disadvantaged children a memorable visit to our farm”

The Holiday Farm offers holidays and short breaks to underprivileged children and those who are disabled or have special needs.
