AN AWARD-winning walking hockey club is returning to Bromsgrove after tasting further success in a trip to the other side of the world.
Alan Gormley launched the innovative sessions at Bromsgrove Hockey Club earlier this year as a spin-off to ‘walking football’, to help introduce the sport to over the age of 40.
Around 30 residents joined the sessions each week, with interest from across the world sparking a recent promotional trip to Dubai, New Zealand and Australia.
Mr Gormley said: “We only envisaged it being in Bromsgrove but after the recent trip it could now be in three counties, plus a dozen clubs in England and Wales.
“Everybody we have spoken to has been really positive about it. It’s just gone crazy.”
The sport returns to Bromsgrove Hockey Club on September 11 between 7-8pm, with a “Bring a Friend” session offering free pizza afterwards.
