THREE men overcame their brain injuries to complete a triathlon last week, thanks to support from a Rednal-based charity.

As part of Headway Birmingham & Solihull's new Sports and Wellbeing Programme, three of the charity's clients were set the challenge of swimming, cycling or running to beat their personal targets, aided by specialist wheelchairs donated by Wheels For All.

Faisal Yasin, Robert Griffiths and Tim Marshall were handed certificates and medals after the triathlon during a small awards ceremony.

Sarah Wood, sports coordinator at Headway, said: "We set a target for each client for each individual element of the triathlon, depending on their individual ability - and they all rose to the challenge.

"They trained hard before the event and their efforts paid off, with everyone beating their personal goals. We couldn’t be more proud of them."

The scheme aims to help clients get back into community sports, offering regular taster sessions to encourage wider participation.
