THE funny and fearless international sell-out mask production Finding Joy is coming to Bromsgrove's Artrix next week.

Produced by the UK's leading full mask company, Vamos Theatre Company, Finding Joy approaches the subject of dementia with humour and humanity.

It follows the story of a grandmother, named Joy, on her 83rd birthday.

She’s feisty, loves to dance, and is losing her memory.

Her grandson Danny is rebellious, bright and always getting into trouble.

When Danny decides to look after Joy, they discover a shared playfulness, a growing love and a future together that holds many challenges.

A spokesman said: "With dementia care and stories of dementia treatment breakthroughs continuously in the news, Finding Joy approaches a subject that is sure to have touched many people’s lives. Despite the emotional subject matter, the play is a warm and engaging piece of theatre that can make audiences laugh, reflect and find joy."

A theatrical highlight of Artrix’s Autumn season, Finding Joy is presented as part of a two year project at the venue to engage with people with dementia and their carers.

The Artrix is committed to becoming a dementia friendly venue and training front-line staff as ‘dementia friends’ to help assist members of the public confidently and correctly during their visit to the venue.

Performances of Finding Joy will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 21 and 22.

A relaxed performance will take place on Thursday at 1pm, designed for those who may benefit from watching the performance in a more relaxed environment.
