A BROMSGROVE beauty therapist is aiming to impress the judges to help her land the title of Miss Worcestershire 2017 when it arrives in the town in November.

Former South Bromsgrove High School student Amy Jones, 21, of Central Road, will compete against 17 other finalists at the Holiday Inn on the Kidderminster Road on November 12.

Charitable Amy, who will raise money for a local homeless charity, impressed in the Miss Birmingham finals earlier in May when she took the title of “Miss Intellect”.

And she hopes her previous experience will stand her in good stead this time around.

She said: “I’m excited to be entering.

“I really want to change people's perceptions of a typical 'beauty queen' and want to use the title if I won to make a positive impact on my local area.

“I would like to set up a charity to tackle homelessness in the future. It is something that is important to me. I took part in a sponsored sleep out in Bromsgrove last time and will be doing something with the Basement Project this time.

“Having been through the finals of Miss Birmingham earlier this year hopefully that will help my preparations.”

Amy hopes to become the second Bromsgrove girl running to win the title, following in the footsteps of television and film production assistant Laura Beth Morgan, of Belbroughton, Bromsgrove, who won the crown last year.
