THERE are 40 more Jobseekers claimants in Bromsgrove than this time last year, new figures have revealed.
The number of 18-to-24-year-olds claiming unemployment benefit is also up on 2016, with the figure now standing at 160.
Latest statistics from the Department of Work and Pensions show 650 Bromsgrove residents overall on the register - up from 610 12 months ago.
Compared to five years ago, the figures are still showing improvement, with a reduction of 260 under-24s and 678 fewer claimants overall.
Bromsgrove Job Centre is currently supporting the recently-laid off Monarch staff, and is also helping Care UK recruit for its newest care home in Recreation Road, Chandler Court.
