A NEW health and fitness centre will open its doors in Catshill this week, offering classes ranging from yoga to cooking workshops.

The Old Library site in Barley Mow Lane has been taken over by 29-year-old personal trainer Kylie Moseley - nearly four years after the library's stocks were relocated to Catshill Middle School.

An open weekend this Saturday and Sunday will give visitors a taste of the sessions on offer, including kid's yoga, parent and baby workouts, over 60's fitness, high-intensity interval training and group cookery.

New owner Kylie, who currently works as a mobile personal trainer under her company Possum PT, said: "I got this place on a whim really. The property came to let four weeks ago and I took it on straight away.

"There's nothing like it in Catshill so I saw a gap in the market and thought, why not?

"I've been rushing around decorating and moving in the equipment to make sure everything's ready for this weekend."

Kylie hopes Catshill Community Health & Fitness Centre's unique classes will help tackle high obesity rates in the area, while also bringing the Catshill community closer together.

"We've got classes for men, women, kids, elderly and families so there really is something for everyone," said Kylie.

"If you've got kids or you're on your own, it's hard to afford to pay £45 for a gym membership every month, whereas Possum PT is cheap to join.

"I'm looking at organising some big community events too, like afternoon tea with Prosecco."

Classes starting next week include running club, pilates, couples competition and men's yoga.
