YOUNGSTERS from a Catshill school seized the opportunity to brush up their French when they visited a Bromsgrove market.
Last week saw the fourth visit of the popular French Market selling a range of goods from across the Channel ranging from cheeses to shoes and clothing and which seems set to become a regular event in Bromsgrove.
“The children had a good time speaking to the stallholders in their native language, who were very kind and patient with them. Later they thoroughly enjoyed eating the bread they had bought.”

The children, from Chadsgrove Sports Specialist School, in Meadow Road, visited the three-day event and, using their language skills, bought several items from the French stallholders.
Deputy head Gillian Clerici said: “The children had a good time speaking to the stallholders in their native language, who were very kind and patient with them. Later they thoroughly enjoyed eating the bread they had bought.”
Market organiser Charles Mathis, from Normandy, said it was good to see so many townsfolk returning to patronise their stalls.
“Bromsgrove is a very friendly town,” he said. “And we are seeing people again who we met last time. Of course business is difficult everywhere just now, but it’s great to be back and we’ll come again in the spring.”
Peter Michael, from Bromsgrove District Council, who arranged the event, said: “We’ve proved that we can create footfall in the town centre and the council’s plans for the future will include more markets in the High Street.”
