YOUNGSTERS from a Bromsgrove school joined with thousands nationally in a recent attempt to become record breakers.
Pupils from Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory School, in Hanbury Road, Stoke Heath, took part in the Big Sing recently in a bid to get into the Guinness Book of Records.
Around 46 pupils joined with choirs and singers across the country for a simultaneous sing-along to beat the current record of 293,978 participants.
The school linked up live with the O2 Arena with Des’ree performing her hit song You Gotta Be, which pupils learned the lines and sang along to.
Independent witnesses also attended to verify the record. Over 600,000 participants are estimated to have been involved, an unofficial world record.
As part of the event, children also took part in a non-school uniform day for a small fee, and the money raised was donated to charities Youth Music, Marie Curie Cancer Care and CLIC Sergeant.
Kate Western, head of year two at the school, said: “The youngsters thoroughly enjoyed themselves and found it really exciting.
“The children will be performing the song for their parents so they can be involved too.”
