HAGLEY police station has been formally reopened.
Lord Cobham, of Hagley Hall, unveiled a plaque at the station on Friday, January 23. Also present was West Mercia’s chief constable Paul West, North Worcestershire divisional commander chief superintendent David Spencer, and invited guests.
The station recently reopened after being closed for four months while work was carried out to make facilities compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act.
A ramp and new front counter and toilet facilities have been provided, which along with a consultation room, now has a large public waiting area, electronic doors providing easier wheelchair access and other new systems designed to help people with impaired hearing and other disabilities.
There is also a dialling facility outside to make it easier for people to contact the police out-of-hours. A parking space for people with disabilities has been provided at the front of the station and the car park at the rear has been resurfaced, with a new in and out system.
