South Bromsgrove wins prestigious design award


SOUTH Bromsgrove High School has won a prestigious design award

The £20m plus school in Charford Road, which opened in 2007, was named as the overall winner in the Bromsgrove Society's Architectural Awards for 2009 at its annual general meeting held last night at Avoncroft museum. The awards were last held in 2005.

A panel of judges chose the school from a short list of entries covering several categories.

Society chairman Ron Skidmore said the judges had been impressed by the quality of the detail contained in the school which had been built by private cash and felt it gives off an air of 'calm confidence.'

Other winners were: New building, Withybrook Cottage, Finstall and Westlands Toyota, Buntsford Park. Bromsgrove Schools Humanities block was commended.

Landscaping: Pepperwood Cottage, Dordale. Extensions and alterations NEW College. Restoration. 44 to 46 Rose Hill, Lickey.
