Appeal for witnesses to attempted robbery

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Bromsgrove at the weekend.

Between 3am and 3.15am on Saturday 4 July, a man in his 20s was walking from Worcester Road into Breakback Road opposite the Greyhound pub when a group of three men approached him from behind.

They punched him, knocked him to the ground and demanded money from him, then struck him again when he refused to hand money over.

He was taken by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for treatment for an eye injury.

One of the offenders is described as a white, 5ft 8 to 5ft 9 inches tall, a slim build, with short fair hair and wearing tracksuit type clothing.

Detective Constable Kevin Hadley from Bromsgrove CID said: “We believe that there were three males involved in the assault and we’d appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw three males in the Worcester Road or Breakback Road area shortly after 3am on Saturday morning to give police a call.

“Although nothing was stolen from the victim, he suffered a nasty injury to his eye and it’s important that we identify those responsible.”

Anyone with information can call Bromsgrove CID on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
