Marie Curie boost from Wayside tea party

RESIDENTS and staff at a Bromsgrove care home had fun by holding a ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Wayside Care Home, in New Road, which is part of the Alpha Care Homes group, raised a total of £51 for the charity by selling cakes at the party.

Activities coordinator Sue Macfarlane, who dressed up as the Mad Hatter for the event on Friday, July 3, said: “We invited staff, residents and their relatives to join in and it was great fun, as well as being for a very worthwhile cause.”

Thousands of tea parties have been taking place across the UK for Marie Curie Cancer Care and a similar series of events last year raised enough to provide over 14,000 hours of specialist nursing care.
