BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid, joined in with the celebrations this weekend when he attended the Trinity Centre in Lickey, to mark the completion of its £37,000 renovation project.

The hall has been open for 75 years, and the renovation work has meant that it now has a new equipment store as well as a multi-purpose annex.

The improvements to the building were made possible through £25,600 worth of funding from the Veolia Environmental Trust, and the Landfill Community Fund section of the Severn Waste Environmental Fund.

Speaking about the work that's been done to the building, Ron Smith, manager of the hall action team, said: “It’s an unique place. 75 years ago, almost to the day, Lickey Parish Hall was first opened by Sir Herbert Austin, and the building has continued as a centre of local activity ever since and has adapted to modern day community needs.

“We are so proud of it and very grateful for the assistance that has been provided by The Veolia Environmental Trust and Severn Waste Environmental Fund in helping to assure its future for the community”

Executive Director of The Veolia Environmental Trust, Margaret Cobbold added: “The trust supports community and environmental projects across the country. It is fantastic to see this project completed, enabling it to continue to provide for the community for many generations to come.”

The celebrations included a performance from the Worcestershire Youth Jazz Band for representatives from all the organisations that use the Trinity Centre, along with local residents, parish councillors and Sajid Javid.
