BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid recently had a tour of local company HME Technology, which is going from strength to strength.

The MP was joined by Nadhim Zahawi, MP for Stratford-upon-Avon, for a guided tour round the factory at Saxon Park by director Martyn Hale.

Mr Hale spoke to the MPs about keeping design and technology at the forefront of manufacturing and innovation in the light of coalition’s review of the national curriculum in schools.

“It is absolutely vital to retain design and technology as part of the national curriculum rather than allow it to become optional,” he said.

“We have a world leading design industry and it is critical we continue to re-build our economy by majoring on our strengths.”

Founded in 1984 the company is a supplier and installer of design and technology equipment for schools.

It has recently won a number of major contracts including a £299,000 contract to fit technology equipment for a school in Tamworth.

Both MPs congratulated Mr Hale on the company’s recent success.
