THE number of people claiming jobseeker's allowance has fallen slightly according to new figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
According to the data, the number of unemployed claimants in Bromsgrove in November 2011 was 1,330, down 79 from the previous month.
The figures show 2.9 per cent of the economically active population in Bromsgrove is claiming jobseeker’s allowance, which is one of lowest rates of unemployment in the UK.
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid called the figures “welcome news”, but stressed he wanted the rate to fall even further.
He said: “Although more remains to be done, this reflects the positive impact of the coalition’s ongoing work to cut the deficit and restore the nation’s finances.”
