Birmingham Chamber Orchestra to perform in Bromsgrove

AN epic and much-loved work will be at the heart of Birmingham Chamber Orchestra's concert at the Artrix.

Beethoven's fifth piano concerto, the Emperor, will be performed by the rising young pianist, Simon Callaghan.

Simon is a former prize winner of the Bromsgrove International Young Musicians' Platform, and has been described by Sir Roger Norrington as a wonderful pianist.

Conductor, Martin Leigh, said: “Birmingham Chamber Orchestra aspires to the highest standards.

“Our 2010 performance of Beethoven's third and fourth piano concertos with Martin Roscoe was a tremendous highlight and Simon is another outstanding soloist.”

Birmingham Chamber Orchestra has a reputation for ambitious programming and compelling musicianship.

The group has performed on BBC Radio 3 and in Birmingham Town Hall.

The Artrix concert, made possible through the assistance of the Fidelio Charitable Trust, is on Saturday, May 26.

It starts at 3pm with tickets (£10 and £5 for under 16) available from the box office on 01527 577 330, or online at birminghamchamberorchestra.com.
