A BROMSGROVE couple have been celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

Nan and Cyril Horne were married at St Michael’s Church in Headingley, Leeds, on July 21, 1952.

Cyril said he remembers it being very dull on the big day as they went into the church but after tying the knot, they left the church in bright sunshine.

Cyril is originally from Swindon, while Nan is from Manchester.

The pair, who were both teachers, moved to their Sidemoor home in 1959 so they could both take jobs working in education in Worcestershire.

The diamond couple both officially retired in 1991, though Nan carried on working at an after school club until 1998.

Cyril and Nan celebrated the milestone anniversary with family and close friends at their home last weekend.

They have two daughters, three grandsons, and two great grandsons.

Cyril said: “The secret of us staying together for all these years has been give and take, and sharing problems.”

The pair generously asked people to make donations to the Christian Aid charity, instead of buying them anniversary presents.
