Planning application for Bromsgrove KFC submitted

A PLANNING application to build a new Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) drive-thru restaurant has been submitted to Bromsgrove District Council.

In July, the Advertiser revealed the giant US-based corporation had confirmed it planned to open a new outlet in the town, but at the time a KFC spokesman remained tight-lipped as to the location being considered.

There were strong rumours the site chosen was the junction of Charford Road, Stoke Road and the A38 - where the Sugarbrook pub is currently based.

An application to demolish the pub and build a drive-thru restaurant has been submitted by agents Savill, and the spokesman has now confirmed the fast food giant is behind the application.

The spokesman said: “We can confirm we have submitted an application for the Sugarbrook Pub.

“It's early days, so we can't say too much at the moment, but a new restaurant would create up to 40 career opportunities for the area.

“We're currently liaising with local authorities and residents on the plans."

A Bromsgrove District Council spokesman said a decision on the application is expected to be made before October 11.
