SPORTY youngsters will be getting active using new equipment at the Bromsgrove campus of NEW College.

After the successful summer of sport, the college’s campus, based in School Drive, has had a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) installed.

The MUGA, on the outside green of the Centre of Excellence for Arts and Technology, was officially opened by assistant principal Carol Duncan during the college’s freshers week.

Eager youngsters at the opening were keen to try out the equipment for the first time.

Barry Smith, the student services’ activities officer, is running events and competitions during lunchtimes in the MUGA to encourage students to keep active.

And in the short time since opening, students have been involved in football, basketball and a timed go-kart challenge.

Carol Duncan said: “In keeping with the Government’s pledge to continue the legacy left from a summer of sport the college is determined to give its students the opportunity to get involved in more sporting activities on a daily basis.”
