Olympic medallist Sharron Davies pays tribute to students

OLYMPIC medallist Sharron Davies recently joined students at NEW College.
The former swimmer, awarded an MBE, was hosting the college’s annual higher education awards.
More than 100 students graduated in subjects such as BA (hons) social work, foundation degrees in creative industries and a range of professional qualifications.
The TV Presenter and former Gladiator gave a rousing speech to an audience of 600 and shared the stories behind her gold and silver medal wins at the Commonwealth Games in Canada and the Moscow Olympics.
After the ceremony she signed autographs and posed for pictures.
Principal John Callaghan said “This was a superb way to both acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of students who have completed higher level studies with us.”
The college will be holding an open day on Saturday, October 20 from 10am to 2pm with guided tours of the campuses in Redditch and Bromsgrove.
