AT a children’s court, John Brighton, aged 11, was charged with stealing apples to the value of 1s from a garden at Highfield Road, Rock Hill.

William Rea stated that he caught the boy stealing fruit from the trees. Boys had been in the garden earlier in the day anddoneconsiderabledamage.

The boy told them he had taken the apples because he didn’t have sufficient food. His father denied this saying there was always food for the boy and it was his neglect if he didn’t come to collect it. The bench advised the father to talk to the boy severely and punish him.
