School on Worcester Road was seeking council permission to site a 20 caravan holiday park in its grounds during summer holidays. Forty-seven angry residents from Manor Court Road, which backed onto the school, had signed a petition attacking the ideas of putting caravans on the playing fields during a four-week summer period.

 THE chairman of the Bromsgrove Society had applauded a new campaign to clean up the green belt on the outskirts of Bromsgrove. Norman James, of Hawthorn Road, Bromsgrove, said the Countryside Action project, which had just received a £5,000 cash injection from Bromsgrove District Council, sounded very laudable.

 MORE than 200 Bromsgrove war veterans and civic dignitaries commemorated the Second World War victory over Japan in an annual memorial service. The Bromsgrove branch of the Burma Star Association gathered at the Burma Star memorial in Crown Close to commemorate the far eastern army’s victory over Japan in 1945.
