URGENT steps were being taken to sound out public opinion because thousands of Bromsgrove folk had ignored a questionnaire vital to the future of the district. The quiz, asking where the boundaries of Bromsgrove should be drawn, was distributed to the 39,000 residents living in the district north of the M42 who were most likely to be affected by the changes, but only 11,300 had returned their forms.

A 30-miles-an-hour speed limit on the estate roads off Shaw Lane, Orchard Crescent, Walls Road, Prior Avenue, Ryefields Road and Cloverdale, Stoke Prior, had been requested by the parish council. Traffic in Shaw Lane was already restricted to this limit. Bromsgrove planning and highways committee was considering the request.

A PLAN to raise the roof of a church in Bromsgrove had angered residents of nearby luxury flats. As a result, town planners had been told to hold more talks on proposed alterations to the shape of Bromsgrove Baptist Church in New Road. At the last meeting of the district council’s planning committee, councillors were told that residents of Guardian Court were worried that the higher roof would block out the light into some of their homes.
