RESIDENTS of a Stoke Prior street were concerned that they would lose part of their front gardens for road widening.

Councillor David Braisted told Stoke Prior Parish Council of rumoured plans to slice six feet off front gardens in Foley Gardens. Foley Garden residents, who turned out in force for the debate, were worried about over-development causing congestion from more cars in the narrow road. Councillors called for an on-site meeting between them, Bromsgrove District Council and the county council surveyor.

TRAFFIC weary residents were threatening to sue the government because their homeinsurancepremiumshad rocketed. Householders on the A38BirminghamRoad, Bromsgrove, claimed that they needed extra insurance cover because of damage caused by vehicles zooming between the Lickey End and Lydiate Ash motorway junctions. Residents complained of cracked walls and windows falling out due to heavy lorries travelling at 80 or 90 miles per hour when they should be doing 40.

BROMSGROVE police received 16 lethal weapons under the national firearms amnesty.

Guns from Bromsgrove, Droitwich Spa and Rubery were handed over. There was an air-rifle, pistols and a shotgun.

Twenty-seven rounds of shotgun and 250 rounds of pistol ammunition were also handed in.
