AN off-licence was granted for the Pleck Stores, Sidemoor by Bromsgrove magistrates, with opposition from ET Pickmere Ltd wine and spirit merchants of High Street.

MR JW Wilson said the grocery and general stores catered for the new housing estates in Sidemoor and had been in existence for a great many years, and he had had many inquiries from customers about drinks being made available with over 100 signing a petition which they had displayed in the shop.

BROMSGROVE Road Safety Committee heard that the GPO had turned down a request for a public telephone kiosk to be erected near the M5 island terminal at Chadwich.

The postmaster wrote that parking difficulties would limit the use of the phone to south-bound traffic, and for most of the day it would be obscured by parked lorries. The committee voiced concerns over what anyone should do in an accident.

AN application to serve drinks with meals up to 1am at the Chalet Country Club in Rednal was refused by Bromsgrove Licensing Justices following renewed complaints from local residents of annoyance arising from late night activities at the premises.

The Justices refused to grant an 'extended hours certificate' for the serving of drinks beyond midnight at times when meals and live music were both provided.
