SHRUBBERY House, in Worcester Road, had been bought by Bromsgrove Labour Club.
The site was intended as the future home of the club, which since opening in 1927 had been in the old Cattle Market Tavern, Church Street.
Ã MEMBERSHIP of the Bromsgrove Constituency Liberal Association had increased in a year from 160 to 650 members, with 12 branch associations established.
Dr Hilary Harries, the Liberal’s prospective parliamentary candidate, told the association’s annual general meeting that they had every reason to be pleased about the rise, but membership was still not sufficient Ã THE Bromsgrove Messenger looked at the topic of the day – whether heavy cigarette smoking was dangerous.
The piece included the thoughts ofMrJackson, who said he smoked 30 cigarettes a day and felt no ill effects, despite the warnings of doctors and politicians.
