AT Stoke Prior Parish Council a proposal to number the houses in Aston Fields was discussed. Councillor Smith brought the matter to the attention of councillors saying letters were being wrongly delivered. The postal authorities said they could not be held responsible for the mistakes. In one street, 20 houses had only four different names. Councillors agreed to ask the district council to number the houses.

  • AT Bromsgrove Petty Sessions Charles Tonks, a boatman, failed to appear in answer to a charge of assaulting John Harrison, of Tardebigge. In the incident, a tug arrived with four boats. The defendant’s boat was second in the procession, but he wanted to proceed down the canal first. He was not allowed to do this and his boat was stopped by the boatman until the following morning. The following day Tonks ambushed Mr Harrison pushing him off his bike. Tonks then grabbed him by the throat. A man named Colledge arrived, helping Mr Harrison escape. Later, the defendant tried to rush Mr Harrison again. Tonks was fined £1 and 14s costs and 14 days’ hard labour.
