MIDGE Ure’s solo show has proved the most popular Bewdley Festival act according to early ticket sales figures.

Places in the audience to the Scottish singer-songwriter’s performance, which will take place on his 61st birthday, have been snapped up by festival members who have been able to buy tickets prior to their general release.

Jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine and acoustic musicians Kiki Dee and Carmelo Luggeri came a close second in the sales ratings, while comedian Hal Cruttenden, mountaineer Doug Scott and journalist Joan Bakewell have also sold well.

Tickets will go on general sale on Saturday (August 2) and can be purchased from Worcester Live on 01905 611427 or in person at Bewdley tourist information centre.

Dave Collins, press and marketing officer of Bewdley Festival, said: “Hopefully the good weather will continue to be kind to those in the Load Street queue eager to book their favourites from all that this year’s programme has to offer.

“Once again it will be interesting to see if festival members’ choices are reflected by the public at large, or whether other favourites emerge.” For full details of the line-up visit bewdleyfestival.org.uk or see The Shuttle’s coverage here.
