MORE than 1,000 people in Worcestershire have used a mobile application providing information on health services available near to them.

The Is A&E For Me? app was launched earlier this year as part of a campaign run by health organisations across the county aiming to ease the strain on stretched hospitals.

The free app is available on both Apple and Android phones and provides a range of information on options available and includes a GPS function allowing users to find the nearest NHS service including pharmacies, GPs, minor injury departments and dentists as well as A&E departments.

Urgent care lead for the three Clinical Commissioning Groups in Worcestershire Ruth Davoll said: “We’re delighted that there’s been such an interest in the app and that it has been downloaded so many times.

“The app is the first of its kind in the Worcestershire and is one of the innovative methods that we are using to make accessing information about health services easier, in this case at the touch of a button.

“The app is already helping to reduce the numbers attending A&E and I would encourage anyone with a smartphone to download it, making sure as many people as possible are aware of their healthcare options in Worcestershire.”
